Certiport to Join with Al-Mustansiriya University to Deliver Certiport IC³ Certification to More than 19,000 Students
Agreement with leading Iraqi university to be finalized at BETT 2009, the world's largest technology education conference

Certiport today announced it will sign an agreement with Al-Mustansiriya University in Iraq, one of the oldest universities in the world, to assist its 19,000 students learn and validate digital literacy by achieving the global standard of Certiport Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³®). The agreement will be signed by Mr. Hussein al-Tahan, governor of Baghdad province; Professor Taki Al-Musawi, president of Al-Mustansiriya University; and David Saedi, president and CEO of Certiport.
"Al-Mustansiriya University continues to demonstrate the leadership necessary in Iraqi higher education to prepare Baghdad and the nation as whole to be globally competitive in the new economy," Saedi said.
The signing will take place at the BETT Show on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10.30 hrs at Certiport Stand No: M20 in National Hall, Olympia, London. Beginning in 2009, Certiport through partner BNR Education will provide training and Certiport IC³ certification to 10 of the university's lecturers, which they will transfer the knowledge to another 100 teachers in Iraq. These lecturers, in turn, will implement new curriculum mapped to the certification to instruct all university students on the global digital literacy standard. Students will learn about operating systems, networks, applications and the Internet as they work to earn the world-class IC³ certification.
Certiport IC³ follows the recommendations of the Global Digital Literacy Council (GDLC), the preeminent advisory body that reviews and updates digital literacy standards based on input from hundreds of subject matter experts, educational authorities and government agencies worldwide.
