Health Certification for IT Skills Released by Certiport

New IC Health Program addresses call for improvement in healthcare efficiency

ITALY – October 15, 2009

Certiport announced the launch of IC Health, a new health certification exam, in response to the need to redefine organizational practices and management through technology training and certification related to the health sector.

Given that the role of health information systems is expected to become increasingly important in enabling systems worldwide to operate efficiently, the new IC Health Program is designed to address the training needs of all health workers, saving time and money.

"Continued advances in technology provide the opportunity for new models of quality care within health organizations worldwide," said Stephen McSweeney, Certiport's Vice President of Product Management. "Combined with training and certification, these tools establish a valuable credential showing that workers have sufficient medical and technical skills to make the most effective use of the technology that affects their patients."

By integrating information and communication technologies to address evolving trends, the new IC Health program will assist the needs of all health workers: general practitioners, specialists, health care managers, and nurses, as well as technical and administrative staff.

IC Health certification is obtained by passing the IC Health exam in an authorized Certiport Center.

"In an increasingly digital world where virtually every field and function is impacted by computers, there is an apparent need to simplify services," said Nuccio Certo, CEO of TESI Automazione srl. "The IC Health certification serves as a valuable solution to workers because of the increasing importance of worldwide information technology in healthcare."

Basic knowledge of personal computer use is a prerequisite for achieving the IC Health Program certification. Individuals are encouraged to take Certiport's Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³) prior to taking the IC Health exam. Test takers must demonstrate knowledge by effectively utilizing technology as it relates to:

  • The Health Information System
  • Management of patients' personal data
  • Clinical folders
  • Patient safety and clinical risk management
  • Internet and medical vocational training

For those health workers seeking the critical skills needed to use the latest computer and Internet technology to achieve business objectives, expand productivity, improve profitability and provide a competitive edge, the IC Health certification works to validate those skills. The program will be available to Certiport Centers in English and Italian. Learn more at www.certiport.com/ichealth.
