Taiwan Ministry of Education Approves the Adobe Certified Associate Certification
First international credential by Certiport approved to help teachers and students become proficient in multi-media applications
TAIPEI, Taiwan – March 9, 2010
Certiport announced the Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE) has endorsed the Adobe® Certified Associate (ACA) program as part of the government's efforts to help students excel in today's highly-competitive and global marketplace. The ACA credential, recognized globally or in more than 130 countries around the world, certifies individuals have the skills to plan, design, build and maintain effective communications using different forms of digital media.

Approval of the ACA certification program comes after an in-depth review in which members of the MOE analyzed detailed information on the validity and reliability of the certification, scrutinized exam development and evaluated opinions from corporations and teachers.
The exam, available in both English and Chinese, tests an individual's proficiency using Adobe Flash®, Photoshop® and Dreamweaver®.
"The Ministry of Education is working with organizations, teachers and students to offer unique learning opportunities for students in Taiwan," said Ray Kelly, CEO of Certiport. "This endorsement highlights the standards and methodologies behind an industry-standard certification process. The approval reinforces Certiport's mission of providing certification programs that ensure individuals are equipped with the most relevant, in-demand knowledge and skills in today's global economy."
The ACA program is already widely used by educators in Taiwan, with more than 8,000 certifications exams delivered in 2009. Teacher and proctor training program support, along with monetary incentives to both schools and students, will likely encourage individuals in more than 100 vocational schools and universities in Taiwan to certify, ultimately impacting the country's education programs and increasing the productivity of its workforce.
"We must look out for Taiwan's strength in the global economy, and to do that, we must encourage standards and resources that show individuals have the ability to compete in the workforce," said Dr. Min-Wing Chang, Director of the Department of Secondary Education, Taiwan MOE. "As businesses and industries increasingly seek employees with higher levels of expertise, this national movement encourages educational institutions to respond by issuing credentials that articulate and advocate the skills students need to be learners, workers and leaders in this century."
The Microsoft® Office Specialist certification and Certiport Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³®), delivered by Certiport, have also been endorsed by the Taiwan MOE as part of a plan to ensure students are equipped with the most current and relevant technical knowledge and skills.
