Student from Korea Named Adobe Certified Associate World Champion in Photoshop

Student wins top prize over 21 international finalists for visual communication using Adobe Photoshop

WASHINGTON, DC (Adobe Certified Associate World Championship) - August 5, 2013

Certiport's 2013 Adobe® Certified Associate (ACA) World ChampionshipCertiport (www.certiport.com), a Pearson VUE business, the leading test delivery solution provider for the global workforce and academic markets, today announced the 2013 Adobe® Certified Associate (ACA) World Champions in Adobe® Photoshop®, culminating the annual competition designed to showcase digital communications skills and promote industry certification. Na Yeon Kim from Korea won the top prize over 21 finalists from 14 countries.

The 2013 ACA World Champions are:

  • Na Yeon Kim, Korea, first place
  • Nandy Vanessa Parra León, Colombia, second place
  • Jheng-Ji Tang, Taiwan, third place

Certiport and Adobe sponsored the 2013 Adobe® Certified Associate (ACA) World Championship and the Global Fund for Children served as the client for student entries during in Washington, DC from July 31-August 3, 2013. The first annual ACA World Championship attracted 59,000 entries in total.

"As we planned this first annual competition we knew it would be popular, but the number of entries we received from all over the world exceeded our expectations," said Jim Holm, executive vice president, Certiport. "The ACA World Champions have already earned a valuable industry-recognized certification to validate their Adobe Photoshop knowledge and now they can further bolster their resume with proof of their superior digital communications skills over competitors worldwide."

During the Championship Round, contestants were assigned a poster design challenge from the Global Fund for Children to which they responded using Adobe Photoshop software. Students were judged on their creative and technical Photoshop skills, as well as their ability to take and follow instructions and communication from the client, and implement their client’s vision and message.

"We were very impressed by the quality of the final student entries – it was clear these individuals have mastered Photoshop and can clearly communicate the Global Fund for Children message," said Jocelyn Harmon, vice president of development, Global Fund for Children. "We are grateful to participate and plan to use some of the winning entries in our marketing campaigns going forward to strengthen vulnerable children around the world."

An impressive panel of judges from industry reviewed contestant designs. The first, second and third place winners were selected based on design score, and were awarded scholarship money, Adobe software, and computer hardware prizes.
