2010 Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office

Testing Center Information

How Students Can Participate:

  1. While sitting for an MCAS or MOS Word or Excel exam (2007 or 2003), students will be prompted to participate in the Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office. Before the exam begins, a screen will appear with competition information and an opt-in checkbox (checked by default). If the student wishes, he/she can opt out of the competition by clearing the checkbox. Click here to view a screenshot of the opt-in screen.
  2. If the student passes the exam and has left the opt-in button checked, he or she will be entered into the competition.
  3. At the end of the competition (June 30, 2010), Certiport Solution Providers within each region will choose finalists based on the top exam scores and fastest exam times.

What's different from last year?

  • The competition will no longer be a part of the PATHWAYS conference. Two separate events will be held this year: the Certiport Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office World Championships and the Certiport Partner Conference.
  • The Student Awards Ceremony will not be tied to a gala event.
  • Regional winners will be recognized at the Student Awards Ceremony. Students do not have to be present at the awards ceremony in order to qualify for prizes.

Other Details:

  • Dates for the first round of testing (unless other arrangements are made):
    December 21, 2009 through June 30, 2010.
  • Certiport partners are required to choose the student(s) that will represent their regions in the World Championship round of the competition in Park City, Utah. Partners are also required to assist these students in submitting completed Student Confirmation Packets to Certiport no later than July 15, 2010.
  • Students must be between the ages of 14 and 22 (as of June 30th, 2010) in order to participate in the World Championships in Park City, Utah.
  • Certiport will recognize regional winners at the student awards ceremony in August, but if there has not been a regional testing event, regional winners will be determined based on the top scores during the World Championships.
