Carl Fuerst, coach of the IC³ World Cup winning team graciously claimed the Cup and other prizes at the 2008 PATHWAYS international conference in Hawaii.
Participating in the competition has brought Fuerst recognition as a computer specialist in his area. On winning the competition he said, "Will help to be better known in the region… I got another job last year because of winning this – becoming 2nd last year."
Winning the competition is only part of the reward, however. Participating in the competition provides incentive for students to certify their computer skills, which prepares them for the future. "…It's quite helpful for them to find an apprenticeship, find work, find a place in another school. It's one of the points to help them be successful," Fuerst said.

IC³ World Cup team coach Dimitris Vergos was thrilled, if surprised, to win the 2007 competition. "I did not participate in IC³ World Cup expecting to win," he said. "I knew other training centers in Greece had more students than I did. But, I did know I was doing my job well."
Vergos feels that winning the Competition will give him additional credibility. He said, "Winning first place in the 2007 IC³ World Cup Competition for the EMEA region will attract students to my training center."
For his students, the knowledge and skills gained from preparing for IC³ are significant. "Our adult students have used their certifications and skills to apply for jobs in various government posts and secure better employment," Vergos said.
"I have always believed in IC³ and have supported the program and proposed it to individuals who want to attain computing standards," Vergos continued. "I believe IC³ is the first step toward learning computers."
As part of the Grand Prize, Vergos traveled to Disney World in Florida to represent the achievements of the Technokids-Technoplus students and teachers and accept the IC³ World Cup.
2006 IC³ Cup Competition:
2006 was the inaugural year of the IC³ Cup Championship. U.S. teams competed in two divisions: corporate and academic. "The Brainiacs," a team representing CompUSA won the corporate division and Orem Junior High School from Utah was the top point collector in the academic division.
Each team received over $10,000 in prizes including Dell™ computers, Apple® iPods and team T-shirts. IC³ Cup coaches for both teams, Gary Ramey of CompUSA and Phillip Hanney of Orem Junior High School, also won all-expense-paid trips to Disney World in Orlando for Certiport PATHWAYS 2006.
