2011 IC³ World Cup Competition

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What are the dates of the Competition?
A. September 1, 2010 – May 31, 2011.

Q. Can I see how many points my team has?
A. Certiport will be tracking the results of each team and will periodically post the top ranking teams on the website.

Q. How does Certiport record the points earned by each team?
A. Every IC³ exam passed and certification earned in your testing center earns points for your team automatically from the date your team registers through the end of the competition.

It is important, however, that you let us know if your team coach is a certified IC³ Authorized Instructor at the time of registration. You must also report any new IC³ Authorized Instructor certifications earned by instructors on your team during the competition in order to receive the corresponding points.

Q. Who can participate in the Competition?
A. The IC³ World Cup is a team-based competition and any school, business, community organization or Certiport Testing Center is eligible to participate.

Q. How many team members can be on my team?
A. Each team can have an unlimited number of members. What matters is that all tests are taken and certifications are earned at the Testing Center where the team is registered.

Q. Can I be on more than one team?
A. Sorry, no; team members may only participate on one team.

Q. How can other teachers/instructors that I work with also participate in this competition?
A. Teachers/instructors can participate by starting their own team and acting as the team coach or by participating as a team member. One testing center = one team.

Q. Can my school or organization have more than one team?
A. Any school or organization can have multiple teams, if multiple Testing Centers are available. However, If your school or organization only has one testing center then you can only have one team. Hint: the more members you have on one team, the more points your team can earn. This means, it is generally wise to have more people participate on a single team from one Testing Center, if possible.

Q. How do I score points?
A. For complete details on scoring points, please refer to the Official Rules page.

Q. What are the prize packages?
A. For complete details on the prize packages, please visit the Prize Package page.

Q. What is the process for registering my team?
A. The team coach will need to register by logging in as an Organization Administrator or Member at www.certiport.com and following the registration link. Once your team is registered, all points earned in your Testing Center will be attributed to your team.

Q. How will Certiport know if someone from my team scores points by taking an IC³ exam?
A. All points earned (exams passed and certifications earned) in the Testing Center registered for your team will automatically be attributed to your team.

Q. How will I know how my team is doing?
A. Certiport will be tracking the results of each team and will periodically post the top ranking teams on the website.

Q. How do I become an IC³ Authorized Instructor?
A. For a step-by-step guide to becoming an Authorized Instructor go to www.certiport.com/instructor.

Q. What's the deadline to register my team?
A. You can register your team at any point in the competition (September 1, 2010 through May 31, 2011). . Just remember, the later you register, the less time you'll have to score points.

Q. Can I add more players once I've registered my team?
A. Yes; you can add team players throughout the competition. Any points earned in your team testing center will be added to your score.

Q. Will I get any points if I fail an IC³ exam?
A. No; you must pass the IC³ exam in order to receive points.

Q. Will I get points if I register to become an Authorized Instructor, but I am not approved?
A. No; you must be approved to become an Authorized Instructor to qualify for the points. Points will only be awarded upon approval of your application, so you must allow enough time for our staff to approve your application before the competition ends.

Q. Can I add members to my team that are already IC³ Certified?
A. All NEW certifications and exams passed earn points, so a certified individual may not receive points for his/her past certification, however, he or she may take a more updated version of IC³ (Global Standard 3, for example) and thereby earn more points for the team.

Q. How will I be notified if my team wins?
A. Winners will be announced on the IC³ World Cup Web site and via email on June 15, 2011. Prize packages will be awarded to the winning coaches who will be responsible for distributing prizes to their team members.
