It is simple to create a PowerPoint presentation from an existing outline. To do this, follow these instructions:
- Open PowerPoint and choose File » Open.
- By default, you will not be able to see and open any files other than PowerPoint files. To open other file types, use the drop down arrow next to the dialog box that says "Files of type" at the bottom of the Open window, and choose All Files (*.*).
- Navigate to and open your saved outline. The outline will open with each heading on a separate slide.
- The presentation can now be made more visually appealing by adding a design template, graphics, and animations.
- Save the presentation. By default, PowerPoint will save the file with the extension .ppt. If you wish to save your presentation with a different extension, use the drop down arrow next to the dialog box that says "Save as type" to choose a different file type.
Note that simple outlines with only one or two levels of subheadings will convert better than very detailed outlines. If you have trouble with the conversion feature, you may need to simply cut and paste your outline into new PowerPoint slides.
