By default, Microsoft Word will change a typed Web address into a hyperlink once it is typed and either Enter or the Space Bar is pressed. If the computer has Internet access, one can follow that link by pressing and holding Ctrl and clicking on the link. The hyperlink will look similar to this: www.certiport.com/DATT
Although Microsoft Word will format typed Web site and e-mail addresses as hyperlinks by default, you have the option of turning this feature off.
- From the drop-down menu at the top, click Tools » AutoCorrect Options.
- Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
- Under "Replace as you type", clear the check box that says "Internet and network paths with hyperlinks". Click OK.
- To turn automatic hyperlinking back on, follow the same directions, making sure to place a checkmark next to "Internet and network paths with hyperlinks".
