Adding Some Color to Word

Just because you are working in Microsoft Word doesn't mean that you have to restrict yourself to a world of Black and White. There are three principle ways to add color to your Word document:

  1. If you are working with shapes, use the "Drawing" toolbar to add a Fill Color. Simply select your shape and click the paint bucket icon.
  2. The "Formatting" toolbar can be used to change the color of the actual text you are typing or have already typed. Simply select the text or place your cursor where you want to begin typing with a new color and click the Font Color button (the underlined "A").
  3. To highlight text in a particular color, simply click the Highlight button in the "Formatting" toolbar (the underlined marker).

When using any of these methods to add color to your document, remember that you can use any of the colors in the Word color palette. To change the palette color, simply click the small downward arrow next to any of the three buttons described above.
