Certiport Honors Omani as 2008 Champion of Digital Literacy

Professor and editor of Digital Oman, Sangeetha Sridhar, recognized for efforts in promoting digital literacy among students and citizens through writings and instruction

Certiport today announced Sangeetha Sridhar, a professor and editor of Digital Oman, has been selected as a 2008 Champion of Digital Literacy. The program recognizes the outstanding contributions of individuals throughout the world who champion the cause of digital literacy. Through her work in academic and publishing circles, Ms. Sridhar demonstrates how digital literacy and achievement of globally recognized credentials such as Certiport Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³®) can transform the lives of many in rural or underserved communities.

Aside from her public lectures, Ms. Sridhar, a prolific writer, was a columnist for a government-sponsored daily newspaper where she wrote more than 150 articles exploring technology themes. More recently, Ms. Sridhar has been appointed editor of an information and communications technology (ICT) quarterly called Digital Oman. She continues to actively research e-learning models for digital literacy and promote the benefits of globally recognized certification programs such as Certiport IC³.

Champions of Digital Literacy was established to honor the exemplary efforts of individuals across the globe who transform the landscape of education and employment through championing the adoption of digital literacy standards. Each year, nominations are received from around the world and award recipients are selected based on the measurable scope and social impact of their efforts.
