Certiport Inducts Iraqi into Champions of Digital Literacy Hall of Fame during PATHWAYS HAWAII Gala Ceremony
CEO of BNR Education offers digital literacy learning and credentials to Iraqis in an effort to help rebuild the war-torn country
WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — August 02, 2008
Certiport today inducted Dr. Wail Omar of Iraq, CEO of BNR Education, into the Champions of Digital Literacy Hall of Fame during a gala ceremony held at the Certiport PATHWAYS™ HAWAII international conference. Dr. Omar was one of six individuals from around the world honored for his outstanding contributions to extend globally recognized digital literacy programs into Iraq. Dr. Omar and others have overcome security challenges resulting in personal tragedy to successfully deliver Certiport Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³®) training and certification to testing centers in the northern and southern parts of Iraq, including two of the largest universities in the country: Baghdad University and Al-Mustansiriya University.
“It was so risky when we started this [endeavor], but we decided to go forward and provide Iraqi people with an international certification,” Dr. Omar said. “We aim to help the Iraqi people rebuild Iraq.”
