Certiport Inducts German into Champions of Digital Literacy Hall of Fame during PATHWAYS HAWAII Gala Ceremony
Innovative partnership with Federal Ministry of Education and Research enables training manager of MD Schulung & Beratung GmbH to conduct digital literacy pilot in Lower Saxony
WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — August 02, 2008
Certiport today inducted Edzard Hasbargen of Germany, training manager of MD Schulung & Beratung GmbH, into the Champions of Digital Literacy Hall of Fame during a gala ceremony at the Certiport PATHWAYS™ HAWAII international conference. Hasbargen was one of six individuals from around the world honored for eliciting unprecedented cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BmBF) enhance the digital literacy of students. Hasbargen spearheaded a pilot effort to instruct and certify more than 1,500 secondary students and 500 teachers in Certiport Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³®).
After two successful pilots, the program has won the support of the European Union as well as the federal government. “We hope in the next two years to have more than 20 schools participating in Frisia. Later, we will expand throughout Lower Saxony and later to all of Germany,” Hasbargen said.
