Certiport China Partners with Prestigious Shanghai University to Develop and Certify Digital Skills of Teachers

East China Normal University to offer globally recognized Certiport IC³ and Microsoft Office credentials for validating digital skills to 500 teachers annually

Randy PiersonCertiport China announced today that East China Normal University (ECNU) has been approved as its newest Certiport Center for administering performance-based certification exams recognized globally. The partnership is aimed at enhancing the digital skills and credentials among university students studying to become teachers. Effective immediately, Certiport China will help pave the way for 500 would-be teachers at a time to learn and validate information and communications technology (ICT) skills while earning globally recognized certifications.

"East China Normal University is demonstrating tremendous leadership in addressing the urgent need for better prepared teachers with skills vital for education in the 21st Century," said Randy Pierson, executive vice president of Certiport. "Developing and certifying the digital skills of teachers lays the foundation for integration of technology in the classroom, which in turn leads to learning outcomes that foster student creativity and innovation."

An agreement solidifying the initiative to train and certify ECNU students was signed by Allen Logue, director of global channel operations at Certiport, and Dai Ping, director of University Vocational Technical Training Center at ECNU. The initiative includes Certiport Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³®), Microsoft® Office Specialist and Microsoft Business Certification programs. These credentials benefit employers, instructors, students and other individuals looking to improve and validate current and relevant computing skills.

Founded 1952 in Shanghai, ECNU has been a flagship university for the development of China's most respected teachers. To date, more than 100,000 individuals have graduated from the university and successfully integrated into the Chinese workforce. The university boasts 18 full-time schools and 39 departments that offer 61 undergraduate degrees. In turn, the graduate school offers 94 doctoral programs and 139 Master's programs.
