Adobe Sponsors Inaugural Competition and Global Fund for Children Serves as Client for Student Championship Entries

SALT LAKE CITY, UT - July 1, 2013

Certiport's 2013 Adobe® Certified Associate (ACA) World ChampionshipCertiport (www.certiport.com), a Pearson VUE business, the leading test delivery solution provider for the global workforce and academic markets, today announced details for the 2013 Adobe® Certified Associate (ACA) World Championship, an annual competition designed to showcase digital communications skills and promote industry certification. Adobe is sponsoring the event and the Global Fund for Children has signed on to serve as the client for student entries during the Championship Round in Washington, DC from July 31-August 3, 2013.

The 2013 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship brings the finalists together to compete in timed exams to demonstrate their abilities in Microsoft Word®, Microsoft Excel® and Microsoft PowerPoint® versions 2007 and 2010. The top winner in each category is invited to compete in the 2013 Microsoft Office Specialist Worldwide Championship in Washington, D.C. from July 31-August 3, 2013.

"In the final round of the Adobe Certified Associate World Championship, regional student finalists will travel to Washington, DC to simulate a client-designer relationship," said Jim Holm, executive vice president, Certiport. "The student finalists will act as the designer and will complete a design challenge, perhaps to create a promotional poster, brochure, or flyer for the client, the Global Fund for Children. Ultimately the winners will have demonstrated their superior digital communications skills."

During the Championship Round, contestants will be assigned a design challenge from the Global Fund for Children to which they must respond using Adobe Photoshop software. Students will be judged on their creative and technical Photoshop skills, as well as their ability to take and follow instructions and communication from the client, and implement their client’s vision and message.

"We are pleased to participate in the first Adobe Certified Associate World Championship, as these bright students showcase their skills and creativity to benefit the Global Fund for Children," said Jocelyn Harmon, vice president of development, Global Fund for Children. "We hope to use the winning design in our marketing efforts to support and strengthen vulnerable children around the world."

"Adobe works with the Global Fund for Children through our Adobe Youth Voices program," said Tacy Trowbridge, worldwide manager of education programs, Adobe. "We are thrilled to bring this great organization together with the ACA Championship to create an outlet for students to demonstrate real-world application of their digital skills."

A panel of judges will review contestant designs. First, second and third place winners will be selected based on design score, and will be awarded scholarship money and Adobe software, and some great computer hardware prizes.
