The Knowledge Hub branch of the 'ilm Academy property yesterday played host to members of the Community Development Department (JAPEM) and the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) for a certificate presentation ceremony.

The guest of honour was Acting Director of JAPEM, Hjh Misnah binti Hj Bolhassan. Also present were CEO of 'ilm Academy, Hjh Hasnah binti Hj Azri and representatives from AITI.

Yesterday's ceremony was held for a pre-selected first batch of 13 participants, who successfully completed the Internet and Core Computing Certification (IC³) programme facilitated by 'ilm Academy.

Fully-funded by AITI, the course participants, who were handpicked for the internationally recognised course, are registered members under JAPEM and went through a 10-day training programme facilitated by certified trainers from 'ilm Academy.

Hjh Hasnah pointed out that in a world dominated by technology, the course provides individuals with the basic knowledge and skills to succeed in a working environment requiring the use of computers and the Internet.

Whilst being internationally recognised, she added that IC³ is a stepping-stone in certified training, and will equip each student with the appropriate tools when they embark on their new career.

"Seeing how successful the first batch is, we are proud to say that the training for a second batch of students is currently underway," she noted.

Meanwhile, Project Manager for AITI's Human Capacity Building, Hjh Ismawati binti Hj Ismail, disclosed that the ICT Competency Programme introduced by AITI in 2010 has produced more than 700 certified participants in various ICT-related training courses.

AITI is indeed very delighted to have the members of JAPEM group enrolled in the IC³ training programme through collaboration with JAPEM.

"It is hoped that this training will give them ample opportunities to venture into a world of possibilities with knowledge newly gained, so they can improve on their everyday lives, as well as open their minds to try new undertakings."
