While sitting for a MOS 2007 Word, Excel®, PowerPoint® exam or MOS 2010 Word, Excel®, PowerPoint® exam, students will be prompted to participate in the Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office. Before the exam begins, a screen will appear with competition information and an opt-in checkbox (checked by default). If the student wishes, he/she can opt out of the competition by clearing the checkbox.
If the student passes the exam and has left the opt-in button checked, he or she will be entered into the competition.
At the end of the competition (June 15, 2012), Certiport Solution Providers within each region will choose finalists based on the top exam scores and fastest exam times.
The PowerPoint® 2010 exam will be included for the first time in the 2012 competition.
Previous regional, country and Worldwide Champions can compete in this year's qualifying and final competition ONLY if they are competing in a different exam and exam version. For example, if a student placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their region, country or at the 2011 Worldwide Finals in Microsoft Excel® 2007, they can participate this year in any exam EXCEPT Microsoft Excel® 2007.
